March Artist of the Month: Amber Burns
Painting by Amber Burns
The Johnson Heritage Post is proud to feature Amber Burns as the 2026 March Artist of the Month.
Burns’ work explores the "invisible energies" that radiate from all living things. Having grown up helping her family rescue and rehabilitate animals at the Raptor Center and Como Zoo, she now focuses on the deep connections among humans, wildlife, and nature.
“I strive to obtain the personalities and energies that are animated by animals through visual patterns. When viewers see my work... I hope they recognize aspects of their own personality and the relationships they experience,” she said.
Through her vibrant visual patterns, Burns invites the community to see the forces that connect us all.
Amber Burns holds a BFA in Arts Education from UMD and an MLS in Arts Development and Program Management from the University of Denver. Currently the Director of Community Impact and Partnerships at the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, she is also a faculty member at the MN Ballet and 218 Dance Project. Her work has been showcased at venues ranging from the Zeitgeist Arts Gallery to the Duluth Playhouse.
Amber’s work will be on display through the end of March.
