The Historical Alliance of Cook County will host the 4th annual Storytelling from the Back Roads of Cook County on Saturday, October 3, at 2 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. This collaborative event features speakers from each member organization sharing regional history and local lore.

Featured presenters include cultural landscape historian Arnold R. Alanen (Cook County Historical Society), author of The Scenic Route: Building Minnesota's North Shore; 60-year Cook County resident Jim Wiinanen (Gunflint Trail Historical Society), sharing stories of Seagull Lake's historic resorts; longtime local historian Skip Lamb (Schroeder Historical Society); and author Brian Tofte (Tofte Historical Society), discussing his book,Tofte: A Norwegian Immigration Story.

Formed in 2023, the Alliance brings together four local historical societies to highlight how cultural heritage shapes, inspires, and informs the community.
