Thin Places - An Art Exhibit by the Spirit of the Wilderness
Join the JHP Art Gallery for the Opening Reception of an exhibition of works titled, Thin Places: "The Forms of Things Unknown: Artists Exploring 'Thin Places,'" with a special guest speaker, Wayne L. Roosa Professor of Art History on opening night.
In A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare wrote, "And as imagination bodies forth/The form of things unknown, the poet's pen/Turns them to shapes and gives to airy nothing/A local habitation and a name." Visual artists, too, have used the artist's brush, chisel, pencil, film and print to give visible form to what the imagination, soul and heart can see. This lecture explores many artists who have sought to give form to what is deeply felt in those 'thin places' of the imagination.
Winter Gallery Hours: Thursday - Saturday 10 am - 4 pm & Sunday 1 - 4 pm.
