2025 Centennial Celebration Cookbook
Outdoor kitchen, 1924. Ingersoll Collection. Cook County Historical Society
The Cook County Historical Society is creating a cookbook to celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2025, and we need your help! Through this project, we hope to capture the unique culinary heritage of Cook County and Grand Portage, featuring a blend of historical and modern recipes and archival photos. To ensure it truly represents the community, food traditions, and stories, we are collecting recipes from you, our community members, and local restaurants.
The goal is for the cookbook to be more than just a collection of recipes; it's designed to be a treasured item, telling stories through its historical content and reflecting the deep connection between food and community in the area over the past century and beyond.
We're excited to be working with Create My Cookbook, which is assisting us with compiling and organizing all the recipes to produce this one-of-a-kind item.
Here are the details:
Community members are invited to submit one (or more!) recipe to be included in the 2025 Cook County Historical Society Centennial Celebration Cookbook.
Recipes may be submitted electronically by clicking this link, which will bring you to the Cook County Historical Society page through Create My Cookbook. From there, select “Contribute Recipe.”
Recipes may also be submitted by downloading and printing this form, and dropping it off at the Cook County History Museum, Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery (see specific site for hours), an upcoming event, or mailing it to: PO Box 1293, Grand Marais, MN, 55604.
Cookbooks will be available for sale this fall.
The deadline for recipe submissions is August 24.
We are looking for restaurant sponsors! If you’re interested in becoming part of history and supporting the Historical Society at the same time, click here.
