August 2026 Local Artist of the Month: Sue Rauschenfels

This August, JHP Art Gallery is thrilled to feature painter and mixed-media artist Sue Rauschenfels as the Local Artist of the Month. Rooted in a childhood spent exploring the woods and building deep community connections, Sue’s work serves as an homage to the natural world—particularly our beloved local birch trees. Beyond their important role in our ecosystem, Sue sees trees as a source of healing, rejuvenation, and social connection, drawing parallels between the way trees gather and the way human communities must stand tall together.

Through bold colors, energetic mark-making, rich textures, and handmade collage papers, Sue captures dynamic, spiritual stories on canvas. Her abstract representations go beyond the boundaries of traditional landscape, inviting viewers to pause, recharge, and reflect on our shared bond with nature and each other.

Sue’s work will be on display through August 31.
