Join the JHP Art Gallery for an exhibition of works titled “Calling” created by Minnesota artist Alexa Carson. Alexa Carson's paintings invoke the call of our wilderness– the call of the chickadee, the loon, the wolf. We are being called back to our natural spaces to reconnect with wildlife, and to reclaim our role as nature's stewards. This is an exhibit that should not be missed!

The exhibit runs through June 30.

In A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare wrote, "And as imagination bodies forth/The form of things unknown, the poet's pen/Turns them to shapes and gives to airy nothing/A local habitation and a name." Visual artists, too, have used the artist's brush, chisel, pencil, film and print to give visible form to what the imagination, soul and heart can see. This lecture explores many artists who have sought to give form to what is deeply felt in those 'thin places' of the imagination.

Briand Morrison, a well-known artist in the music world, pairs his father George Morrison's (1919-2000) work with his own musical compositions for an original event that will please both visual art and music lovers alike.

Musical Impressions: The Art of George Morrison is a blu-ray disc produced by Briand Morrison consisting of 128 images of George Morrison’s work from the 1940s through 2000. The accompanying sound track consists of twelve original jazz compositions composed and performed by Briand Morrison. Some of these images have never been shown to the public.
